Nikon 200mm f/4D ED-IF AF Micro-Nikkor

1989NCP_180
Review Date: Jan 20, 2010 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,500.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Excellent manual focusing, edge to edge sharpness, built like a tank. You get what you pay for with this lens.
Cons:
None.

I was a macro fan back in my film days and finally went digital and chose to start over with Nikon. This is without a doubt the finest piece of optical glass I've ever used. Tripod mounted with a SB-600 or two run wireless from a D90 is a treat for small nervous critters. I also have the 60mm D micro and while it has it's uses, the working distance of the 200 is a major plus. At some point I'll probably break down and pop for a 105 micro as another handheld macro but not because I'm not thrilled with the 200.

If you are even thinking about this lens just bite the bullet and buy it, you will not be displeased. I have no idea how the AF works on this lens as I've never used it.
