I can't understand why this lens has gotten such a bad rap. I've had mine for about a year (bought it used) and have been satisfied with its performance on my D200/D300 bodies. I also use it on F100 when shooting film. It's sharp. has nice contrast and focuses fast enough for most situations. What more could you want?

Wide angle isn't wide enough on DX bodies, but great for film bodies. I wish it were a solid f/2.8 throughout the zoom range, but I can't really complain at this price. I may move p to the 24-70 f/2.8 if I decide to go FX in the future.
