Center column limits "low shots"... a short column is avalable

The first time I opened the tripod, one of the tabs setting the leg spread broke off. Not for heave lenses but a great hiking tripod. When the legs are set a little wider it is quite stable. Fully extended and with the center column up stability is OK but not great. I have the non geared center column and replaced it with a short column. Works great for macro.
