Pros: Upgrade from excellent 350D and very pleased with the 30D, a little less forgiving than the 350D as I'm still on a big learning curve but what a great camera.
Cons:
2 niggles first camera exchanged as it intermittently refused to focus when all focus points were active new camera is fine. 2nd i cannot get a 70-300 IS lens

Upgrade from excellent 350D and very pleased with the 30D, a little less forgiving than the 350D as I'm still on a big learning curve but what a great camera, taken some excellent portraits shots, brilliant menu system and so comfortable to use. battery life excellent, large screen and the big wheel a marked improvement over the 350D. I really like the 17-85 IS kit lens I bought with it. Its wide enough and on the whole the most versatile lens I've ever used. plus freebie sandisk extreme 2 gig all in all a great upgrade at a great price. Ebay allowed me to sell 350D stuff at really good price so i'm well chuffed.

2 niggles first camera exchanged as it intermittently refused to focus when all focus points were active, new camera is fine. 2nd i cannot get a 70-300 IS lens from canon as there are huge waiting list and they are unable to keep up with production and are having manufacturing problems, so have bought a cheap sigma as a stop gap for the summer until they get it sorted. Actually the sigma 70-300 APO is okay but not as good as the canon or so i'm led to believe, certainly IS would be very welcome.

Pros: Just bought this MK1 50mm 1.8 on ebay with a filter after 2 months of the MK11 model and 3 faulty switches, Its probably 15 years old, its in mint condition and the build quality is streets ahead of the new MK11 lens. Akthough I am not yet sure but it does seem to be sharper than the MK11. Buy one if you haven't already my MK11 is on the way back to the dealer for the third time!!!
Cons:
Non I can see, its a little noisy but that really isn't the slightest problem.

Pros: Light, cheap, fast and excellent pictures
Cons:
Faulty AF/MF switch

Build quality is an issue, I am on my third in as many weeks because the auto-manual switch is faulty and it doesn't always work on all three lense including the current one.

Dealership also confirms this is a problem as they have tested each lens I've returned on their cameras but when Canon was contacted they didn't have a clue.

Same problem with either my 350D or EOS3 but no problem with my other 4 lenses so it isn't the camera thats faulty. At this price I would not argue build quality ordinarily as it is a great lens but faulty switches are unacceptable whatever the price. So check your lens MF/AF switch as you may also have the same problem.
