Nikon D3

Review Date: Feb 6, 2009 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 9

Pros: great build quality, speed, FX, low light capability, long exposure noise control, lots of focus points and easy navigation in between them, digital horizon line view, and so on... too many!
sensor dust removal feature, selectable grid view finder just like D700. etc very small things

I've been nikon shooter for a long time and I moved to canon because of my needs. but D3 made me come back to nikon and I have never been happier with the body quality, and the image quality both at the same time.

I was hoping to see grid in view finder selecable from the menu just like lower class nikon bodies, but maybe that was too much hope.

I was also hoping to see nikon putting sensor cleaning feature to their flagship model and I was very jealous about sony's new A900 because of that. But you need to manually clean the sensor regularly (not that often with current DSLR models though) anyway, so this is just another small thing.

This camera gave me a whole new perspective to low light shootings in many situations. Events shooting has never been easier and image quality is nothing I've ever seen before.

I've also done few long exposure shots... say about 45 mins - 1 hour long exposures. And I was blown away with the amount of noise!

Overall, I'm so happy with this camera and I don't think I'll be changing to any other camera unless nikon releases another camera which is as good as this and have dust removal feature.
(Yes, I change lens a lot and I'm just so sick of cleaning sensor all the time)

Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF Nikkor

Review Date: Feb 4, 2004 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $167.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: small & light, very sharp image, nice image even in f/1.8
none i can think of. maybe slow focus which doesn't really matter in prime lenses

this is a very nice, cheap, small lense.

it's one of the best lense because you don't really need a lot of money to buy such a great quality lense.

i love this lense. i've changed from 50mm f/1.4 because i thought in that focal length, i wouldn't need that much of speed.

it was a fine choice considering my financial situation.
