Pros:
very sharp, even (mostly) wide open, very light, great color/contrast
Cons:
plastic feel, plastic mount, no USM, loud, horrible manual focus ring, extending front element, high min focusing distance, 5 blade awkward aperature, no hood
Great lens, a great spare or great for low light stuff. DOF is fun to play with. Can be combined with extension tubes for a great macro lens.

Pros:
sharp at 75mm, long zoom and IS, light
Cons:
soft pictures with zoom, nothing that great. SLOW focus, no FTM focus, extending front element, loose build

I got a used copy on ebay and yes it is sharp at75 - but thats not the purpose of this lens. My copy may have been worn, but the focusing and zoom rings were very loose.
It has given me some good pics - but IS doesn't help you with the slooooow aperatures.
70-200/4L would be way better - or get the 2.8

Pros:
sharp wide open, hand holdable, comes with case/hood, excellent, sexy build, versatile. Blazing focus and silent too
Cons:
a tad expensive. a tad heavy.

Literally the sharpest I have used (which I guess isn't saying much). But it is tack sharp wide open!!! DOF play is fun too with the 2.8
Some people recommend the ol 80-200 saying its still fast - I dont know how thats possible. THis is like a ferrari focusing.
Upgraded from 75-300IS and its like night and day!!!
THis thing gave me L fever. What a promiscious lens!

Pros:
Good though a little small size, nice look, good padding, no awkward look
Cons:
Zippers are not the highest quality/awkward, a tad small, smaller pockets awkward

This bag is great. Looked at the other bags and backpacks and all were small/awkward looking. This one is a tad small (i am used to larger book bags I guess) but the compartments are a nice size/with nice padding. front/side pockets are a little useless - kind of hidden.
