Pros: L-Series quality, very sharp pics at all focal lengths, weight, great walk around lens.
Cons:
A little soft at F4 but thats being very picky, its F4 but thats what i paid for.

I had the 28-135 IS for many years and retired it for this new L series lens. I've been doing alot of work with this lens for the past few months and i must say that this lens is one hell of a performer. Super sharp pics on my 1dsmk2n and my 20D. Weight is a blessing and IS is helpful during low light work.

A very versitile lens, highly recommended.

Cheers Smile

Pros: Great lens, sharp as razor, price, vibrant colors, price of course!
Cons:
f4, pics soft at f4,

Overall great lens. Very sharp with great colors. Lightweight and built like a tank, worthy of the "L" designation. Fast and responsive AF.

Images are soft with the aparture wide open but gets very sharp a few steps down. Not that great indoors when you cant use a flash but its F4, it comes with the territory.

Love this lens.

Cheers

Pros: Light weight, sharp pics, IS, price.
Cons:
slow lens

This is the first lens i bought when i started getting into photgraphy many years ago. Good walk-around camera when your out and about one afternoon. Takes great pics. Although i have upgraded to the 24-105 f4L lense, i find myself still putting this lens on my camera for outdoor family outings, the weight factor is a blessing.

Not that great for indoor shots, i find myself reaching for my 70-200 f2.8L, for those.

If your looking for a good, light weight, cost effective, all purpose lens then look no more, here it is. This one will be in my camera bag for many more years.

Cheers

Pros: Crisp pictures, solid build, Super fast AF.
Cons:
A bit heavy.

Great overall lens, crisp pictures, great color, i could go on and on but everyone has said it all. I would recommend this non-IS version rather than the IS version. IMHO IS is over-rated. Save yourself $800 (cdn) and get a mono-pod, better yet learn how to hold your camera.

Cheers!
