Great lens at a great price. Before I bought this lens I owned nothing but zooms. At first, I was hesitant to buy it, but after looking at my first few shots I was very impressed with how much clearer shots from this lens looked compared to shots with my zoom. So much so that I ended up trying to use this lens for just about everything I could.
Although this lens is great optically, I prefer a slightly wider focal length for day to day shots. And I have since sold this lens and bought a Tamron 90mm for that reason alone. Aside from that I can't find fault with this lens, especially at this price.
I highly recommend this lens to anyone looking for a good lens.

Pros:
|
Very sharp, descent wide open performance, very useful focal length

Cons:

doesn't feel like a $450 lens. I find the dual focus system to be more annoying than useful.

This is probably my most used lens. I do use it for macro shooting occasionally, but I find myself wanting to use it for everything that will fit in the frame. It is a superb lens at a good price.
The build quality isn't quite as good as the Sigma 105mm macro, but I find the 90mm focal length to be more useful. Also, it is lighter than the Sigma, which is a good thing.
Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lens to anyone looking for a ~100mm lens (macro or otherwise.)
