After upgrading to the 1DMkII, I decided to get this lens. My previous lens was a much cheaper Tamron; however, on the 10D it produced pretty good images. Well, with the 24-70, the pictures are absolutely fantastic. The colors are really outstanding. I don't mind the size / weight; however, the price is about the only real negative. My next lens will probably be the 70-200 as I've just seen some great images when paired with the 1D.

Absolutely my favorite lens in the bag. Super quality with really nice color and very, very sharp. No drawbacks at all.

Slooooow USM and Autofocus hunting.

Very good lens and agree with many users comments below regarding picture quality. Biggest drawbacks are the lack of a hood and tripod mount and the most annoying part of it is the hunting of this lens with the 10D. Pretty much just plan on using it in MF mode.

My standard workhorse lens for medium distance (my 17-40L is for all close in stuff). Very good focus and quality in the home studio. Only real complaint is the noise, very loud and sounds like the motor is grinding on sand...otherwise, a very good lens for the money.
