Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM

400f28II
Review Date: Sep 18, 2011 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: STUNNING Image quality even with the 2x TC Mk3 light enough to hand hold for in flight. If oyu only take one lens away this one with both TC and a 1D4
Cons:
Only draw back other than price slow to focus with 2x TC unless you focus at infinity then it will find the target on the way back (like 70-200 with 2x TC)

Worth the wait I don't know how they could improve on this lens. I always wanted q 400 2.8 but the weight was a killer I like to shoot birds hand held. I think this is the new standard in wildlife lens.

I you get a chance t have a go with one don't pass it up !!

Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM

EF8-15mmL
Review Date: Jul 25, 2011 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 9

Pros: I received this lens today and after the long wait. I hope to be able to make some really interesting shots with it. The detail even at the corners is good. Even after straightening in Lightroom.
Cons:
The lens hood gets in the image this is to be expected but you have to hold it as it wont fit on backwards out of the way and the lens cap is a joke I will get a hoodie to hold it on.

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV

canon1dmarkiv
Review Date: Dec 30, 2009 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: Fast AND accurate AF iso up to 12800 is usable (you still need to get the exposure right) even for cropping !! Movie mode I will need to learn have not shot video for years (vhs) I feel I will buy a second one and sell my 1D2 and 1D3 but keep the 1Ds 3 I wonder what they will come up with next. This camera would do every thing you need to do sports nature and studio fine art. I love it!!
Cons:
The low light shooting is so good it is a pity you need to put on the flash to get the infrared focusing but then you can shoot in light so low!! I put a cover over the flash and tilt up and it selects iso 1600 other wise it sets iso 400.

Review Date: Jun 19, 2008 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: Longest lens currently in the canon line up but not as long or heavy as the 600 f4. Image quality to die for I repeat to die for!! Can be hand held if your shoulders hold up min can manage one or two shots only. http://www.pbase.com/scottsdigital/800_f56
Cons:
The price but I guess you get what you pay for.
