Tamron 90MM F/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 SP AF

Review Date: Mar 12, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: Ridiculously sharp, cool and accessible AF/MF switch, light, small, reccessed front element.
AF is VERY loud and slow. feels very 'plasticky' but hey, for the weight i can't complain.

My first macro lens and I am VERY happy with it. The only problem I have is the loud and slow AF. The handy AF/MF switch helps though. Just take it as best as you can in MF, then switch to AF and let it fine tune the shot. It's a GREAT lens and I'm so happy I bought it.

Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 XR Di Zoom AF

Review Date: Mar 12, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $420.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Sharp, saturation, very contrasty (is that even a word? :-))
Sometimes slow to focus, cheap and plastic build quality. Loud AF

I actually traded in the Canon 24-70 f/2.8L for this lens and I am so glad I did. Less than a third of the price for a lens that has a sharper AF. The only major drawback for me is the annoyingly loud AF.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM

Review Date: Feb 27, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,100.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Sharp, almost silent and FAST AF, Excellent quality, free manual focus
Weight of a small child, slightly soft wide open

Excellent lens. I picked it up about two weeks ago (used) and have since shot about 800 images. I never want to put it down! This has quickly become my favorite all-purpose lens. I don't think I've taken it off my camera since I've gotten it (except for cleaning purposes). Highly reccommended.
