Pros: Build, sharpness, crisp colours

Had it for about 8 months now. Perfect on my 1Ds - great colors, sharp and crisp to the edges, spot-on focus.

None for me

Bought used from B&H (condition 9), very clean, $1600, 9,500 actuations according to Jeffrey's Exif viewer ( A retro-upgrade to my 20D. Might have gone with a used 5D but wanted to feel/look Pro for once, even though I have a lot to learn! The 5D Mark II did not appeal to me -too much bling. I'm hoping to learn with this camera and expand my skills beyond what I have learnt over the last 4 years with the 20D and before that with the Sony F828. So far I really like the large and bright viewfinder, the quick and solid focussing and the wondeful colours and dynamic range of the captures. I shoot RAW, people, streets and landscapes. Noise and higher ISO probably won't worry me and I have lots of time so slow write speed is not an issue. I'm pretty happy and feel kind of good going retro.

Frequent IS 00 errror lockup on my copy

Purchased in April 2007 and was initially very happy with all aspects. I am using it on a 20D. After several problem-free shoots an IS error began to occur, giving 00 in the aperture reading and locking up the camera. This requires dismounting and remounting the lens to correct. After the frequency of the malfunction had increased to about one in every 10 shots I decided it was time to send it back for repair. The IS problem with this lens seems to be well known judging by a Google search. It may occur more frequently with the 20D than other backs. It is/was my first L-glass and I was impressed by the results I was getting until the error developed.
