I just bought that monster and as hard as I try to find some flaws I only get tired of carrying it so I put it to rest.

I think finally I find the lens I’ve been looking for since I started with photography, I will keep this lens as long as Canon don’t make a newer version, I will highly recommend it. Although it’s an expansive lens I still think it’s worth the money, I like the IS feature even though I never needed it.
The 24-70 2.8 L and this one plus 100 mm 2.8 Macro will be enough to fill all my photographic needs for now.

Pros:

No need for a tripod @2.8, Red ring, as quiet as a lens can get, solid built and feel.

Cons:
|
Barrel extends when zoom makes it less of a completely sealed lens.

I had this lens for a week before I returned it and got me a real lens (70-200mm 2.8 L IS). I'm not saying that this is a bad lens is just that it's overpriced for a none IS lens; It performs really well but not well enough to justify spending $1250 plus tax on it. However, now that I don't have any short zoom and that I become spoiled by L performance I ordered it online for $1160.
Beware of L fever when buying this lens, I will always leave it at work so my girlfriend will never see it and dump me.
