Pros:
|
Wonderfully sharp wide open and at all apertures. Built like a tank HSM is no different to USM imho. Excellent finish.

Cons:
|
Maybe a touch heavy. Imagine image stabilisation on this beast!

Bought on ebay.
This lens will definitely replace my 70-200 f4L.
There is no difference in image quality between the 2 and the extra reach is a bonus.
Add a 1.4 teleconverter and I have a mid range zoom that rivals the 100-400L and a constant aperture of f5.6 plus an extra 20mm at the pointy end with virtually no image quality loss.
Image quality rivals my 300f4L Prime.
Here is a sample.
