Range, push/pull zoom (I also like this as it suits my needs), sharpness, IS.

As an aviation photographer, this lens is mandatory! My subjects are extremely far away and mobile, so panning and zooming must be precise, and this is the glass to do it with.
The only downside is that it sometimes leaves you wishing for an extra 50mm or so
