Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L USM

Review Date: Apr 19, 2003 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: Sharp, fast lens. Equivalent of 35 mm lens when used on D-60, 10D. Quite useful wide open, but really shines at about f 2.8. No problems with slow focus.
Cons:
Expensive. Fixed focal length limits flexibility as compared to 16-35mm zoom.

I bought this expensive lens to use for low light work at an equivalent focal length of 35 mm (D60). It has always been a consistent performer. As with almost all fast lenses (excluding Noctilux) best performance is several stops above wide open. However, this lens has delivered the goods many times in very low light situations at f 1.4.

Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye

Pros: Extreme wide angle view. Great since image multiplier still makes this lens very wide angle.
Cons:
Need to use software(Imagealign) to remove fisheye appearance.

For those of us who don't have a full frame DSLR, this lens provides a good way to get those extreme wide angle shots. The Imagealign software does a great job of removing the curvature normally produced by this lens. When used with some cropping of the edges of the frame, a very wide angle image can be produced which does not resemble a fisheye image.
