This is an astounding performer and I just cant fault it. The 12-24 shares duty with a 24-105 L, 28-70L as my 3 primary lenses, but it definately does its fair share of the work.
I wish the wide end worked as well as the Sigma 12-24 on my 5D, It Vignettes to 18mm and 19-24 isnt exactly a wide range :D
However my budget 19-35 Tokina does work well on the 5D
I took this lens to the SW USA with a load of shots from Vegas, Death Valley and Yosemite and its performance in those 10 days alone justifed the cost.

I wanted a 17-40 L lens but couldn't justify its L price tag.
After reading these reviews I decided the lens was a must when used copies were so rediculously cheap on ebay. Having had it for the best part of a year I wont be buying 1 17-40L any time soon.
Image Quality and colour are excellent, a tad of barrel distortion @ 19mm but great from 20mm. Very close to sharp wide open and it gets very sharp from F5.6 onwards
The guy who sold me mine would like it back as he is not as happy with his 17-40 as he thought he would be
Quite simply I cant think of any better value for money Canon DSLR lens. Tokina will almost certainly get a 12-24 sale from me based on my current experience
