SHARP, fast focusing, balances well on my 20D (w/o powergrip), image degradation almost nil with 1.4X teleconverter and remains easy to handhold, relatively very little money for one of Canon's sharpest L's. Oh yeah, did I forget it's SHARP?

Why did Canon delete the built-in lenshood originally available on th Mk.I
version? Would like to have had that instead of fiddling with the bayonet mount hood it comes with-which I changed out for a rubber Hoya Multihood.
