Canon EOS 1D Mark II

Pros: The camera is bullet proof. Image quality is outstanding. Very versatile for the pro or casual shooter. You need to understand the basics of photography in order to realize its full potential.
Cons:
Big and heavy. Not for the beginner. Read the manual and rely on online resources to set it up.

This camera has served me well for the past 10 years or so. I attach nothing but "L" lenses to it in order to take advantage of its high image quality. I never shoot RAW and rely on in-camera jpeg processing which is outstanding.
The camera can be set up via the CF's to cover just about any shooting situations.
Its robust, dust and water resistant.
Auto focus is lightening fast. There is nothing the camera cannot do.
Stop reading this and go buy one...you will not regret it.

Happy shooting!

Pros: Sharp....versitile....excellent for walking around....fast focus. Nice contrast.
Cons:
Obtrusive hood. Lens must be prone to flare to have a hood so massive, but I have not noticed any.

This is a big heavy lens but certainly worth the inconvenience. The BG-ED grip on my 10D balances out this lens nicely. This lens is on my camera all the time when I am not doing any specialty shooting. It's sharp throughout the range and is a fast focusing lens. I do not use the hood as it gets in the way for everyday shooting. But if used for portraits outdoors then keep the hood on. You will not be disappointed with this glass and it will out-last the camera body for sure. I have used this lens for just over a year and a half and there is no way I would change.
