I've had several copies of the Canon 100mm, both with and without USM, but none of them were able to amaze me the way the Tamron does. It is very sharp wide open, but stopped down 1 stop it will make your eyes bleed.
It also feels like it focuses more accurately than the Canon.
I must say I'm very impressed with this lens and will definately be watching for new Tamron products.
