I was looking for some time for wide angle glass ... I did try number of them including Canon 16-35 mm after all I have decided for 17-40 mm. Why ? Price versus quality is unbeatable. This lens is very, very good.

This lens is coming for BARGAIN PRICE and I must say that this "baby" is crazy sharp !!! I am using this lens for table-top photography on subjects such as jewelry etc. and can not say one negative word about it. It is one of my "daily" tool lenses.

Pros:

I am pretty demanding customer and in my book this lens for my line of Canon digital SLR's is a "swiss knife" tool. Sharp, excellent color reproduction, fast focus, silent, relatively small .....

Cons:
|
... do not recall any at this moment ...

I am using this lens as on "all time" on camera "glass" for it's connivance ... in some instances even in studio for still-life shooting since quality of focusing and it's sharpens in my opinion is so good. Recently I have purchased 30D and found that on this body this lens is superior too. Well I can sing on and on about this lens how ever for those of you thinking to purchase this glass well do not wait any longer, for this one money are well spend ....

Pros:

For money I paid this Canon 30D is truly a "steal"...my second body is 5D and then of course 1Ds. I have 30D as a street camera and I am very satisfied with that. Quick, responsive and settings which this body is offering are right-on !!!
|
|
Cons:
|
It should have seal like 1Ds and this very same complain I have about 5D otherwise ... nothing else I can think of.

I am using all lenses build by Canon and I do consider them as finest! To say that, it is clear that in use of different Canon bodies consistency in color etc. is there. I do manipulate exposures in Aperture (rev 1.1) and Photoshop CS II. I found that there is not much difference in my arsenal of Canon cameras 30D, 5D and 1ds as far as quality of exposures beside the resolution. I am very, very happy, that I did purchased 30D which did complete tools I need for my photo-shots.
