Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM

Review Date: Dec 6, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,199.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Almost Everything. I even love the weight and size on this lens.
Cons:
Pretty much nothing except for the price.

This is such a great lens. I currently have the 20D and to be honest I'm not too satisfied with the 20D. So, I'll most likely upgrade to the 5D or the 1DIIN very soon and keep

I originally started with the Tamron 28-75 and I was not satisfied with that lens. I also tried the Sigma 24-70 DG Macro, but when I rented the Canon L for couple days, I knew I had to get this lens. I'm glad I spent the extra money (3 times more than the Tamron) to get the L.

Canon EOS 20D

Review Date: Nov 24, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 8

Pros: Great value compared to the high end models.
Cons:
QC. Auto focus.

I had high hopes from this camera, but to be honest, this camera has not met my expectations.

I'll be doing weddings as an assitant and even though I got this camera not too long ago, I'll be upgrading as soon as I save up some money. Maybe get the 5D and keep this as a second?

I believe this 20D and the XT are really great for first time DSLR buyers. Easy to use and it does take pretty good pictures. But if you are very picky like myself, I would recommend going 5D or better.

Review Date: Nov 24, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $100.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Great with Manfrotto 3265 Grip Action Ball Head with Quick Release - Supports 5.6 lb
Cons:
none so far.

I bought this tripod with the Manfrotto 3265 Grip Action Ball Head with Quick Release and this is a great setup!

It's perfect height, size and everything! If it was cheaper, it would've been even better!

Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 XR Di Zoom AF

28-75mm
Review Date: Nov 16, 2005 Recommend? no | Price paid: $375.00 | Rating: 5

Pros: cheap, small and light compared to others in this range (sigma 24-70 DG macro and canon 24-70L)
Cons:
cheap literally

For the money, this is a great little lens. That's why I gave overall rating of 5.

I had the lens for about 3 days and had to return the first one because of focusing problems. Got the second one and although it was focusing correctly, images weren't sharp and they looked dull and flat.

I had a chance to use the 24-70L before and comparing the images, I was not happy with the Tamron. I ended up returning the second one and getting the 24-70L.

Is the 24-70L really worth the extra money? I sure think so.
