I'm quite new to the world of SLRs and have very few lenses to compare to but let me just say that after owning it for a couple months and taking a few thousand pictures with it (on a 30D) I'm quite pleased with the results. When using my UV filter (a cheap brand) I often get flare but without it it's never been a problem. When it's dark I have gotten a few shots that were out-of-focus but I think it happened due to carelessness rather than the lens itself.
Overall I highly recommend it!
