Canon EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM

EF17-85
Review Date: Mar 24, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 6

Pros: IS and good feeling lens on a 20d
Cons:
So So color/contrast. Lame barrel distortion at 17mm. This could be a good thing though. No lens hood or pouch. F isnít the same through the entire focus range. Too much $

Example of the barrel distortion at 17mm.
I traded it in. Sad

Review Date: Mar 24, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,600.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: So awesome..haha.. This is the fastest lens I own. It kicks major booty in almost any setting. I rarely have to add USM or any other color changes in CS2. Awesome fresh out of the cam. I love the moveable tri ring, it really helps with some of the weight issues. Built like a tank... I have superman size arms now from lugging it around.
Cons:
Notta..... Well, maybe $ filters

Did I say this lens is awesome? Well, it is!http://www.pbase.com/shabookie/image/55947635

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM

Review Date: Mar 23, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $400.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Awesome sharp images fresh out of the camera. This thing really shines with the canon ring flash. Great for insects, flowers and any macro work. It works pretty good as a portrait lens too.
Cons:
Horrible AF speed. Hunts like crazy in low light. No lens hood.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM

ef50mmf_14usm_1_
Review Date: Mar 23, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $350.00 | Rating: 7

Pros: Cheap..... 1.4. Small, and light. http://www.pbase.com/shabookie/obituary__3406 I shot the whole series with the nifty 50. I think its a great starter prime for sure.
Cons:
I think I might have had a bad product. It was very slow to focus. When I switched it to servo, it would make a clanking type sound. I could actually feel the movement of the lens. So So soft at 1.4. It really started to rock around 1.8. I traded this lens in and got a 35 1.4L. I would think about getting another one some day.
