Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM

Review Date: Dec 30, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 9

Pros: Fast, Sharp, IS works very well. No dust as of yet, so fingers crossed!
Cons:

I love this lens. It's on my 40D 99.9% of the time, and only comes off when I need to change to a long prime. As I said, I have had no dust problems, but I am very careful about where I use and change this lens.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM

Pros: Everything.
Cons:
No longer available in the UK.

This is my first L lens and it is fantastic.
Yes it's heavy(ish), yes it's big(ish), but it is a joy to use.
The IQ and build quality are top notch, and used with a monopod there is no need to spend the extra /$ for the IS version (which seems to be having a bit of bad press at the moment re IQ). As this lens is no longer widely available here in the UK I got mine from Hong Kong, which was cheaper than the UK price.

Oh, and one other thing...It's white...Nice!

Canon EF 28-105 F/3.5-4.5 II USM

Review Date: Apr 6, 2007 Recommend? no | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 3

Pros: Hard to say considering the major negative point (with my example anyway).
Cons:
Very soft at 28mm.

As I said, very soft at 28mm, even at f8. 105mm a lot better, but still needs some PP work. As most, if not all, who might buy this lens will want to use the 28mm end, I can't help feeling there are much better choices out there.
