Pros:

Build strength, flexability, weight and it even looks the goods. Results are sharp, and focussing is faster then Superman out of a phone box.

Cons:

Haven't found any yet. I may develop some reservations about the hood though, time will tell.

I've only just bought this lens, but so far I'm extremely happy with its performance. It just may supercede my Canon 28-70 f2.8 L as a general "walk around" lens. If not, it will definitley share that distinction.
For me, f4 is adequate for my needs in this focal range, so I can't see me ever needing to crack the piggy bank upgrading.to 16-35 f2.8.

Pros:

Consistently produces outstanding results. The f2.8 makes it all worthwhile

|
Cons:
|
Heavy for extended use. Lens hood design needs improving as it is a nuisance to attach. Other than that, the pros far outweigh the cons.

Yes it's heavy and ungainly. Its built like a tank. But the results are simply outstanding.
This is the first lens I consistently reach for.

Would prefer an extra stop or two.

I really don't mind the push/pull zoom action. I've used it over the years on a few lenses, for that reason it doesn't bother me. Love the sharp, contrasty images. I rarely lose a shot with this lens and use it often.
Overall it's an amazing lens.
