Canon Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX

MT24EX_1_
Review Date: May 4, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $690.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Ease of use, high build quality, wireless function.
Cons:
Not flexible, expensive.

Great piece of HW that every macro photographer will love. Mates with my Canon 180mm via the 72C adapter. Build quality is high when compared to other similiar twin flashes from other makers. The modeling lights are very easy to use and have ratios also!

The thing I dislike is the fact that the twin flashes cannot be changed with the ring flash. The heads cannot be swopped. Unlike say the Olympus macro flashes, it is not designed with modular flexibility in mind. For Canon, you have to purchase both flashes when only the heads are different.

Overall, nice piece of HW but expensive and inflexible.

Pros: Tack sharp, IF, smooth focusing and solidly built.
Cons:
Heavy, needs 72C to mate with the MT-24EX and expensive.

You will not regret if you decide to get this lens.

Pros: Marginally aster tocusing than the 50 f/1.2, very good contrast, well controlled flare and robust build.
Cons:
Slight CA.

Overall a very capable lens. Some focusing issues if subject/object is near but compensated with good contrast, brilliant colors, and excelllent flare control.

Review Date: Dec 10, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,350.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Amazing bokeh for even a 35mm lens. Very sharp at f1.4 and contrast and colors are excellent.
Cons:
Price and weight. Lens hood too bulky when transporting or carrying in a compact bag.

Ultimate 35mm lens for SLRs.

Review Date: Dec 10, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,935.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Very sharp even wide open. Love the contrast and the colors.
Cons:
Heavy and could be a little bit faster for its AF.

This is the standard to beat. I changed to Canon because of this lens.
