Pros: Build, focus speed, looks!!, f/2.8 is really huge over f/4, colour and contrast are amazing and my copy is tack sharp
Cons:
You get what you pay for

I got this lens yesterday and I was waiting, and hoping that what I had read on some forums about newer versions of this lens being much better were true. Well I'm here to report this lens is tack sharp corner to corner (on my 20D) and the colour and contrast and just stunning. If you need a wide angle zoom with f/2.8 skip on the cheap lenses and get this one. If you buy the others first you will want to upgrade and will end up loosing money.

The date code on my lens is UT0912

Sigma Electronic Flash EF 500 DG Super

Pros: Price, Similar to 550EX. When it works its a good flash so I hope I just got a bad copy
Cons:
Exposures are off all the time, mine broke...flash tube died and the flash head locks up the flash when zooming from 50-28mm's (had to remove batteries to reset)

This flash consistently exposes wrong. On the 20D I have to push the EV to +2/3-1 stop and even still I get severely blown out and under exposed shots (with no consistancy). I could take the shot 4 times with the camera in M mode and each shot would be exposed differently.

Mine just died on me after only 3 months of use. It started showing symptoms a week or so after I bought it, but because I needed the flash I never got it replaced. My 580EX replacement had better get here today or I'll be out 3 gigs this weekend. Now I get to test the Sigma RMA service. I will post back with results.
