I had to purchase a new body since I zapped my 40D with water and decided on the 50D. I don't do any "special" tests... I take photos and what I see are images just as good, if not better than my 40D. My perception at this point is the AF is a tad quicker and the extra MP's do allow for a little tighter cropping. I am VERY pleased! BTW, if you haven't seen the new LCD on these, take a look...very, very nice!!
