Sigma Electronic Flash EF 500 DG Super

EF_500_DG_Super_Flash
Review Date: Aug 13, 2007 Recommend? no | Price paid: $300.00 | Rating: 4

Pros: Price, functionality similar to Canon, powerful light.
Cons:
Sigma has poor service, short life of electronics. No lock at 45 degrees. missfires sometimes when red charge light is on.

I own two one recently failed (over exposing everything mainboard problem) and it took 9 months for Sigma to repair, therefore I cant consider this item and its backup service to be suited to professionals. I will sell these two flashes and am now looking for something with more reliability. My first good Sigma has been working well for two years with only the occasional misfire. However it is cheap, I got my monies worth.

Sigma 15mm f2.8 EX Diagonal Fisheye

Review Date: Apr 15, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $360.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Sharp, quick focusing on both the 10D and 1DsII, Great colour and contrast. One of my best lenses. Every shot has a quality to it they are never flat or ordinary. Small for transport.
Cons:
I keep shooting my finger while focusing.

I love the look of the fish it makes us look at the world differently. Truely this would be the only lens I would have to keep. Software will defish so the fish effect is optional.

Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX APO IF HSM

Review Date: Dec 22, 2004 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 8

Pros: Sharp except f2.8, good candid protrait lens, black, very sturdy; it has a good feel on my 10D
Cons:
unusable image at f2.8, like a newspaper photo clipping

I do like this lens, but I cant keep the photos taken at f2.8 (I dont know why I get this in my lens reading other reviews) they are like news paper photo quality very unsharp and missing details. I have had Sigma look at it, to be told its in perfect order. I think the Canon f4L would be my choice now, knowing this. I also have a Sigma 2x teleconverter which can only be used in manual focus mode when on a 10D with this 70-200. BTW I am a Sigma fan and this is the only lens I have had problems with.
