Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G ED NIKKOR AF-S

Review Date: Aug 23, 2008 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,599.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Build quality and sharpness at any focal or f stop. Quiet, fast focus. Best zoom I have used.

This is a wonderful zoom lens, awesome color, contrast and sharpness. But it has no VR - it should for it's size, weight and cost. I have owned 2 copies, the first was a great lens but this lens is better (somewhat sharper, much sharper at f2.8).

Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR

Review Date: Dec 6, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,400.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: VR that works! I like the normal and active VR setting, well done Nikon. Well balanced lens, good enough tripod mount and a decent hood.

I have banged around with Nikons for over 25 years, owning more lenses then I can recall. I am serious when I state this is the best zoom lens I have ever owned.

Nikon 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D AF

Review Date: Aug 2, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $250.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: The images are very sharp and the color is fantastic.
I have had 3 of there lenses, and this is the only one I have been pleased with. This lens zoom ring turns backwards from my other Nikkors.

I have traded into 2 of these lenses before I bought this particular lens. The other two were so-so but not good enough for me to use.
Recently I was at a local shop and the owner was trying to sell off all his remaining Nikon gear. This lens was new old stock and had never been removed from the box. Price was $569. I mentioned it may be a good lens, but I would only be interested if it was $250. He instantly accepted my offer, so I bought the lens. To my surprise, it is fantastic! This is the only lens I own that has a floating f-stop, all my lenses are professional Nikkors. Honestly, this lens stands right in there and makes wonderful images. Best $250 I have ever spent on a zoom lens. Search and try them out until you get a good one.
