Pros: Absolutely incredible portrait lens, produces images unlike any other in my opinion, another legendary Nikon lens. Expensive yes but oh,the quality is astounding, can't recommend this lens enough for portrait shooters and wedding photographers.
Cons:
Price, but is that really a negative for a lens of this quality ? I don't think so, magnificent.

My all time favorite prime lens ! For portraits I defy anyone to find a better lens, the cream machine is king, end of story !

Pros: I've only had this lens a week but I have been blown away by it's quality in both images that it produces and it's build quality. I already owned the Tokina 28-80mm ATX Pro which has been a great lens for me but this Nikon is in another league in terms of image quality, especially at F2.8 which is unbelievable ! It's an expensive lens for sure but it produces stunning images time after time in all conditions, a truely iconic zoom thats deserves it's legendary status !
Cons:
Price and weight, but thats it and to be truthfull if it was light we'd all be complaining about build quality wouldn't we so I don't even think that it's even a fair criticism, as for the expense, well you only get what you pay for as they say ! and boy is that true in camera lens !

If you want a lens that produces superb quality images in all imaginable circumstances this is it ! Expensive but if you want top quality images I'm afraid there's no other lens quite like it !
I've recently had chance to compare it to a friends new Canon 24-70mm on his 5D and the Nikon kills it ! Well done Nikon, a legendary lens.

Pros: Build quality, image quality, contrast, saturation of colour, quite fast I could go on and on !
Cons:
Not as quick as the Nikon equivalent but a whole lot cheaper to buy !

Well I've been pleasantly surprised by this lens after some of the negative reviews that I've read ! I've found this lens to be very, very good, except when used at 2.8 and then yes it is a bit soft but there again some people like the soft look on portraits but it's not an issue for me. Build quality is excellent no argument about that and the lens feels like a quality bit of kit unlike some Sigma lens's which I've had, although they were good lens's they just didn't have the same Pro build quality or feel of the Tokina 28-80 ! optically I think this lens is either vastly underrated by big name brand snobs or there are some bad ones kicking about ! this is based on the reviews I've seen which can vary a lot, some people love this lens some dislike it with a vengeance ! I love it, sharp, reasonably quick with lovely colours and saturation in my opinion. Again this could vary with each lens if reviews are to be believed ! If you are lucky enough to get a good one you'll love it I'm sure, just like me.
