Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX APO IF HSM

Review Date: Feb 9, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $665.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Everything

For my money this is the greatest lens. Adding anything or changing anything on the lens would detract from its abilities. This lens is fast, accurate, quiet, and easy to work with. I've had other f:2.8 lenses, all of which had something that was negative. Not this lens. I have three Sigma lenses, 12-24, 24-70, and 70-200. Add the TC and I am set for just about anything.

Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX Aspherical DG DF

Review Date: Feb 8, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $409.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Fast, sharp, accurate, reliable
Large filter size

I have used this lens for 13 months and it has never let me down. The focus is always sharp and on time. Unlike some, this lens does not hunt for me. Whatever I point at, this lens focuses correctly. I have been so impressed, I bought two more Sigmas to cover everything from 12mm to 400mm.

Tokina 80-200mm f/2.8 AT-X 828 AF PRO

Review Date: Jan 28, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $400.00 | Rating: 5

Pros: Sharp images, fast f-stop.
Slow autofocus, noisy.

I purchased this lens used. I bought it because it is a f/2.8 which I wanted for low light and depth of field. It is not a bad lens, there are just better ones I think. It all comes down to how much you can afford. Sure, we would all love to own the very best, but you make choice based on your finances. When I can, I will upgrade this lens, but for now, I will keep it.
