Pros: Sharp, even wide open, great color and contrast. Excellent AF and tracking ability in AI Servo.
Cons:
If I have to cite something, and this is VERY minor, I guess it would be that the tripod ring doesn't open the same way the A/W ring does which allows you to remove the ring with the lens attached to the camera body. If that's the biggest gripe I have, this is a winner!

Of course I wish it cost less and was lighter weight, but outside of 'fantasy world', this is one fantastic lens that has exceded my expectations.

My ratio of keepers to throwaways has increased greatly compared to my 70-200 f/4L which I was very fond of.

It was a tough decision between this and the IS. In the end, it occured to me that I wasn't going to hand hold this light gathering monster for any extended period of time anyways, so I will give the non-IS a good go round before deciding I 'need' IS functionality. The times I have tried hand held shooting in difficult situations, it has come through very well.

No regrets so far. Wonderful lens, highly recommended.
