Pros: Color, contrast, good range for most situations, amazing sharpness at 35-50mm
Cons:
Distortion at 24-30mm, average bokeh, AF performance in low-light situations/indoors

This lens is a keeper. My copy is pretty sharp even at 105mm. It's the perfect lens for outdoors shooting during daylight. At night with non-contrasty targets it sometimes hunts and fails to obtain focus where much cheaper F/4 lenses succeed. What I love is the contrast and the amazing sharpness at ~40mm. AI Servo performance is surprisingly good too (400D). There are a little too many CAs at 24mm and at full zoom. Flare control is good but not perfect. It's pretty lightweight and IS is great to have for shooting static scenes at night. What sets it apart from many other lenses: the percentage of good photos you'll obtain. This does not show in any review. It simply gets the job done. Learn to use it properly and it delivers.
