Pros:

Sharp as a tack and solid build which seals well.

Cons:

This lens hood is a little better then the other rubbish on my other L lenses, the lens bag is useless.

Used this lens for a two weeks shoot in Northern Australia shooting crocodiles in the heat dust etc . A better test would be hard to find, and it passed 'with flying colours' unlike the lens hood on my 70-200 f2.8 IS. which fell off in the water with two crocs 'spitting distance' away.
Canon makes good lenes but makes crap hoods to match the glass.
This is a good zoom.

Sharp, fast and f2.8, I put off buying this lens for one extra stop, now I wish I had not.Hand held ability is a must sometimes for me and IS is just great.

Cons:
|
The M AF switch is easily shifted by mistake until you get use to it, did it three times on my first shoot.

This lens is always on a camera dody and goes everywhere with me this combined with the 17-40f4L [and others] is keeping me fit as well as having good lenses
