Upgraded from the 50 1.4 which I had been very happy with but you really do get what you pay for, the sharpness, DOF, bokeh is far better. I had read all the reviews and comments about back focus and was wary about this purchase but as it was a refurbished lens I figured any mechanical problems would have been corrected, but I honestly don't know if they have been as there were some focusing issues. Some shots using the outer AF focus points on a 5D may have been slightly out but the ones with the centre AF were pin sharp and much faster than I expected. I am very happy with this lens already and glad I upgraded.
