Pros:
reasonably sharp in the center when used wide open, build quality
Cons:
needed calibration, not tack sharp when stopped down, some CA, heavy and bulky, diffraction from f/8 on on APS-C, expensive
Canon EF mount, APS-C (40D). Here is a test I did, showing both the diffraction beyond f/7.1 and the now-corrected autofocus issue: http://skidemontagne.free.fr/tests/sigma50f14_on_40d.jpg

Pros:
light, small, cheap, reasonably sharp
Cons:
purple fringing at wide apertures, soft wide open; lens hood does not come with the lens (and arrived broken)
Here is a sharpness test on my 40D showing the lens is best usable from f/2.5 to f/9 (and maybe f/11): http://skidemontagne.free.fr/tests/canon35f2_on_40d.jpg

Pros:
ultra-wide, flare resistant, distortion free, lightweight, CA is manageable with DPP, fast & quiet AF, close focus distance, decent build quality, non-rotating front element
Cons:
center not so sharp, very soft borders, vignetting wide open, some CA, a blue cast (or 40D WB issue ?), expensive, not weather-sealed, EF-S mount only
This lens is really fun to use but sometimes it is hard to find a great composition with such an ultra-wide lens. See some web-sized photos of my latest ski touring outings in the following galleries: http://skidemontagne.free.fr/photos_ski/saison0708/index.php
(gear: 40D + 10-22 + Hoya UV or PLC filter, RAW files generally developed in DPP).
