Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 EX DG HSM

Review Date: Apr 22, 2013 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $2,700.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Price, variable zoom comes in very handy, very sharp at F/2.8
Weight, OS motor is loud when it engages

If you compare this to the Canon 300mm L,, I think you will find that for the $$$.. this is hard to beat. If the canon 300L is a 10.. this lens is a definite 9......I need reach for hobby work and not professional work. I have nothing but L glass for our wedding and portrait business......I was pleasantly surprised at how well this lens performs. Cant see a differences in the files B/T the canon 300L and the Sigma 120-300 until you crop in to 100%.. the canon will win on sharpness and IQ,,,,,,,but its not by a lot and definitely not $3800.00 better than this sigma.......Im very happy with the product and have used it at weddings for reach from the back of a church...excellent results at F/2.8-3.5.... love it

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV

Review Date: Dec 5, 2011 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $3,999.70 | Rating: 10

Pros: Built like a tank. Iso performance is insane. 6400 is so clean its not even funny. Af system does not miss. What can you say. we got it for ISO performance for our wedding business plus sports and birding that i like to do as a hobby. Cant wait to get a 100-400 on this thing. Best camera Ive used to date. Read reports about low light racking issues in servo at ISO 3200 and your down near 1/30. Have not had a chance to test this. I think canon is being foolish to stop production on this camera. I grabbed it now because i did not want to spend $7000.00 for the 1Dx. This one i got was a Canon CPS Refirb. Had a shutter count of 397 and was brand new damaged box return. Got it for $3999.70 so I'm way past ecstatic. I would not hesitate to get this camera if you are considering it. Best canon camera to date prior to 1Dx release.....Perfect camera
NONE. Best camera canon has produced.

Sigma 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM

Review Date: Feb 7, 2011 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $879.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Focus hit everytime in low light
sigmas quality control. They let several get out that had defective AF motors. My first one was a total failure. took 2 tries to get a good copy. AF jerk badly then completely stopped on first lens.

If you can get a good copy, this is a fantastic lens. i compared it against the canon 85mm 1.2 and the sigma met the canon at every step. The 1/3 stop advantage to canon was not a factor in the decision process. color, contrast, focal speed and very sharp detail, Shallow depth is just beautiful. Shooting at F/1.4 is no problem at all and 1.8 through 2.0 is unbelievably good. Perfect for a wedding and portrait photographer. A good copy of this lens will net outstanding results. Completes my prime lens line up and is on par in terms of image quality with my 35L and 135L. Its glued to my 5D
