Pros: picture quality, built, fast USM, internal focussing.
NONE for me..

The BEST lens I own so far..
What a combo with my Canon 5D.. GREAT for landscape, and portrait..

Amazing picture quality even at 200mm wide open! GREAT built! Love the range at Full Frame, internal focus, USM is really FAST, Colors are wonderfull, Bokeh ?..mmmmm..YUMMY!

You can check out some landscape and portrait images (with 100% crop samples) shot with Canon EOS 5D at

Indeed, it's a perfect lens for me...

Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM

Review Date: Oct 8, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $640.00 | Rating: 8

Pros: Waayy better than 75-300 IS (in term of sharpness and range), light-weight, plus IS
must stop down at 300m, spinning front element, a bit too expensive for non-L lens

Well, what else can I say.. Did some comparison tests with 70-200mm f/4L and I bet the result will surprise you..

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM

Review Date: Sep 22, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 9

Pros: Sharp, great range, IS is WONDERFULL

With 17-40mm and 100-400mm, now i'm very well covered from 17-400mm.. The IS is a BIG plus in this lens. Wish it was faster, but then I guess it would be way more expensive... Sad

bottom line: I'M HAPPY !

Posted up some samples with 350D and 20D here:

Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM

Review Date: May 19, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $600.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Price..Price..and Price (Compared with the other L ) with the same Quality, Built Quality, The LensHood (this thing really WORKS!), USM, Sharpness
Ok, The lenshood does work, but it's quite BIG!

This is my first 'L' lens. I bought this lens after I have been using my 300D for about 1 1/2 years and having some other third party lenses (Sigma & Tamron).
This lens indeed stands out from my other lenses.

If you're new to SLR, and thinking of buying third party lens, or Non L lens.. Then, I must say...Don't do it! You better save your money and buy a really good quality lens.
