Pros: Cost effective solution as works superbly with my 70-200 2.8 Mk11, much better contrast / saturation and tighter fit than Mk11 version
Cons:
Images are slightly degraded and will always be compared to equivalent length alternative lenses

When I first tested this against the Mk2 extender for IQ with static indoor test subjects, I thought I had made a mistake in spending so much in that the differences in IQ other than in the mid / corners did not seem that different.

However now that I have had an opportunity to use this with both my 5D2 and 1D111 bodies in the real world I have to report that the improvements are actually significant. With the old Mk2 I had serious contrast and saturation losses, now much improved.

And strangely - although this may be just my copy, I did not need to make any MA adjustment for the new extender and the AF especially with my 1D111 is bang on whereas the Mk2 was somewhat of a hit or miss affair - again this may just be my perception, but I've got to say I am much much happier with this version and can finally just carry around my 24-105, 70-200 and the extender and have most of the range i need well covered.

In summary with a Mk2 70-200 2.8 this makes a very useable and arguably cost effective solution

Pros: Excelente en TODO.
Cons:

Pros: Very sharp with the new 70-200 2.8L IS II (as sharp as my previous 70-200 2.8L IS was without the tele-converter). Good performance even when pointed sunward with high contrast scenery.
Cons:
not stackable with 1.4 (or another 2x)

Price rating high mostly because I save a lot by not needing the 100-400 zoom (and the extra weight).

Pros: Sharp, Good Color
Cons:
None .. it does everything it is supposed to do. I knew the price going in and paid it gladly..

This may seem obvious but having had the Series II and now the Series III .... I see an improvement in image sharpness and color clarity.. The extender does indeed perform as advertised.. I purchased this converter extend my 400mm 2.8L IS... and in the limited testing (I got the converter 2 days ago) I can say that the extender is good wide open and awesome 1 stop down.. In the next couple of days I intend to compare this combination to my trusty Sigma 800 EX 5.6.. More to follow

Pros: Great match for my new 70-200f2.8L II IS lens. Excellent image quality. Well built. Great resale value. Gives much longer lens reach with very little space needed in the camera bag.
Cons:
None really.

Bought the extender for my 70-200f2.8L IS II lens to get a little more reach. Works pretty much as described in the Canon info. I think if you are using it with a great lens to start with then the results will be very good. If it was used with a low level lens I would think the results may not be as good - but this is just my opinion. Anyway the results I have seen with this lens/extender combination are worth the cost of the extender. Takes up very little space in the camera bag which is a positive when you consider the alternative of buying a longer lens. Perfect quality fit when assembled to the lens and camera.
