Specifications:
The AT-X 235 AF PRO is a wide-angle zoom lens that will produce dynamic images, which are sharp from edge to edge. The fast, constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 makes wide-angle photography, like reportage, effortless in difficult lighting situations such as indoors or at dusk.

Two Pioneering all-glass aspherical lens elements, one front and rear, (F&R aspherical) are employed to eliminate wide-angle spherical astigmatism and correct edge/marginal light rays for superb image quality. Hoya Corporation, the world’s largest optical glass manufacturer, has created a micron-tuned precision molding technique with the accuracy to form aspherical surfaces to the thousandths of a millimeter. These aspherical elements, as well as 11 more of the remaining 13, receive Tokina’s unique multi-coatings to further improve optical performance.

Continuing the tradition of AT-X, this AT-X PRO series lens boasts a solid, all metal construction using duraluminum alloy. Tokina’s Focus Clutch Mechanism allows maximum AF response and sensitivity while focusing manually.

Pros: Seems sharp to me. Lens does not extend when zoomed which i like.
Cons:
hmm .. heavier than cheap glass

Lens seems sharp to me. If I missed a focus at my sons basketball game I am certain it was due to my less than stellar skills. When shooting F2.8 the margin of error is not great.

I would check it a few days later by using a tree to see if there was a focusing error.

I like lens's that dot not extend when they zoom.

My 2 cents

Pros: This is an awesome good and sharp lens and very overseen, its on par or better than many L or ED glass from other manufacturers i think the pic you get from this Tokina is up in the high end class for low money.Hey its F2,8?
Cons:
No hsm/usm money..no weathersealing...hrumph..

This little pearl is a very fine product and i find it equal or better than the Canon 17-40 L with super good colours and contrast, its perfect on a Canon 5D and the new FF from Nikon the D3 and alike.
I only miss HSM /USM / SWM Motor and weathersealing, but it is still fast and silent and seems good made .enjoy the Tokina PRO line...I do.

Pros: Great image quality; useable zoom field (good for landscapes and cityscapes just bordering on a wide angle)
Cons:
Good grief this is built like a battleship and weighs the same!

I bought this for a pretty good price used in the UK as finances did not permit me to go for a wider lens like the Sigma 10-22mm (which I had a look at and was very impressed with).

Bang for the buck - could not recommend it enough.

Although it goes down to 2.8 (which is handy for night shots with a 400 or 800ISO - eg, the Christmas markets at the the Tivoli Gardens braced up against a tree!), the best results are at f4 and above.

Have taken some very nice shots (I am still learning on SLR photography I must point out) and am exceptionally happy.

Yes, the manual focus 'clutch' arrangement is wierd and the autofocus could be faster.

However, as a used lens, I could not recommend this enough.

Only downside - it is built of pig-iron and can be used as a fall out shelter: it is built like a tank but weighs about the same! So, can be a bit sore on the neck lugging it around.

I would certainly, after buying this, look at purchasing others in the Tokina range.

Hope this is of assistance

Pros: Build quality.
Cons:
not as fast focusing as Canon. A little noisy

Fantastic lens if you get one used. Great build quality like all Tokina lenses. Could use an upgrade on the motor, but then again it is a WA zoom. Not really going to be tracking birds and such with it.

Color and contrast are good with no noticeable flaring or CA.

Once again a fantastic lens if you buy it used. Tokina lenses loose too much value when bought new. But I find them a great bang for my buck when bought off of the used market.

Pros: Good value, pretty well built
Cons:
MF clutch

This lense is one of the better zooms for dslr's. It starts at f2.8, is sharp at f4 and beyound and it has canonlike good colors. The range from 20 to 35 is ideal for 1DMKII or FF, it feels pretty good in Your hands, rocksolid built.

The downsides: MF-clutch is weird, and some CA in the corners (that can be corrected very good in PS). AF not as fast as Canon L, but OK for wides.

I use it as often as my 17-40 Canon...don't ask my why...
