Specifications:
24mm lenses are the entry into ultra-wide angle photography. And this lens is the ideal starting point: it's extremely sharp and offers superior correction of linear distortion, and its f/2.8 aperture makes it easy to use with slow, fine-grain films or in low light. It focuses as close as 10 inches (25cm), and for many photograhers gives the ideal combination of a wide-angle "look" without excessive perspective distortion.

Pros: good price, sharp, great range
Cons:
hard to find sometimes, no USM

I love this lens and must say that it is one that I feel comfortable using without a hood or filter. One thing that should be noted, is that it uses a 58mm filter, so if you have a 50 1.4, you can swicth off (a buying point for me)

Pros: Sharp and detailed images. Nice contrast
Cons:
Inconsistant exposure?

Quite sharp and good value for your money. Sharper than the Canon 17-35 at this focal length. Nice contrast.

A few problems with overexpsure when this lens was used with the Canon D60. Metering was inconsistant and often produced overexposed images. Best shot on manual.
