Home > Member > santos > Critters (plant and animal)    Two Old Neighbors > >> Poster: santos  (see this users gallery) Views: 585 Date: February 25, 2012 Description: Near the Pont du Gard (the ancient Roman aqueduct bridge that crosses the Gard River in southern France), there are three very old olive trees (2 of them in this photo). The three are each over a thousand years old. One of them (I think it is the closest one in the photo) was planted in the year 938, in Spain, and later was transplanted where it lives now. It still bears fruit The two other trees are believed to be contemporaries.
