Great photo Sheila!
I apologize in advance for the very basic question (I'm a beginner), but I'd love to know how to blend a subject into a black background. I would very much appreciate if you took the time to very briefly explain the technique.

For this particular image, I used a "dragan" filter but you can use the brush tool in Photoshop choosing a large brush with Opacity 13% and Flow 70% and paint around the outside of the figure with a black background. To find a dragan action, just Google it and you will find the relevant action.
