These are my kids, Tara and John.
Initially, this was to be a nice fall portrait -- maybe something for the Christmas cards. I raked up the leaves from the whole yard into that one spot, got them dressed and out there and sat them down in just the right pose. You know.
The carrying-on that you see on display here started to happen towards the end of our portrait session. At first, I dismissed this shot as a reject, because it obviously was not the portrait that I was "looking for". Now, I can't believe I overlooked it, frankly.
I rediscovered the picture recently as I was looking through some old files. It just goes to show you that sometimes the best pictures are not at all the ones we expected to see.
I think I'm going to go do a little more reminiscing... Who knows what other treasures I will find locked up in the archives?
