Picked up an NEX-6 from a forum member so I could expand to E-mount reviews more easily. Picked up a Sigma 30 on the cheap as well. Very pleasantly surprised by the 30mm....it's a very, very good lens optically. The Sony controls still don't really jive well with me, but the 6 is 'ok' in that department.

Just some test shots:

I woul really like to see a test of the Sony 1.8/35 against the Fuji 1.4/35, everybody is raving about the Fuji but at least the Potozone Data looks better for the Sony lens.

Be careful comparing photozone's stuff between systems. The 35/1.8 was tested on the NEX-7, so using a 24MP sensor. Therefore the baseline numbers are inherently higher (3000 is amazing on a 16MP sensor, but only 'very good' on a 24MP sensor). I don't know what's going on with photozone's XF 35/1.4 either....mine is significantly sharper in the corners stopped down than what they're indicating.

Looking as a percentage of maximum resolution, they seem to be relatively close at comparable apertures. I'd wager the the Sony has an edge on the image borders at wide apertures, but the Fuji looks a little sharper in the center. Probably not much to pick between stopped down.

I will say, the Sigma 30/2.8 is sharper than my Fuji 35 with both at f/2.8. I'm incredibly impressed with this little lens. (Photozone agrees...it broke their resolution record when tested). After shooting with the NEX-6 a fair bit last night and this morning...I still don't like the controls and ergonomics, but the image quality is quite good - not going to sway me from my main Fuji kit, though. I've got the Zeiss 16-70 coming tomorrow for review so that should be fun.

Here are some shots from this morning, all with the Sigma 30.

It's the new one in silver. Looks a lot nicer in person than it does in pictures, though the focus ring (which is shiny) is prone to fingerprints. The back half is a matte finish, so it's a nice two tone look. Both the smooth and matte are metal, though. In pictures I thought they were plastic.

One question for all NEX shooters, though: it seems the actual camera mount bayonet flanges are plastic..and looking at pictures this seems to extend even to the A7/R. I've never in my life seen a camera with plastic mount flanges...has anyone had issues with durability?

It's easy to see the flaws of the SEL16F28 in the corners. Still, fun to have a setup so small that can catch the Milky Way.

No problems with durability so far.I still use 2xNEX5N with about 40k actuactions each and one NEX7 with 15k approximately. The only problem is peeling off rubber grip on the NEX7.

Wild bokeh with that lens.

Got the 18-105mm G today. It has crazy distortion throughout the zoom range, but the in-camera and LR profiles take care of it quite well, so you never have to see it. Even with the distortion correction, it's got quite good image quality. It's weakest at 18mm, but even still fairly good there. Quite sharp through the rest of the range, even wide open. Kind of amazing to have f/4 constant through such a broad zoom range. It's big, but pretty light.

Here's one shot at 60mm, f/13, 1/6 second handhelld:

Two from tonight with the NEX-6 and Zeiss 16-70. Of course, with the super slow shutter speed of the second, I could have used a coke bottle for the same effect.

Wow, it really has gone quiet in here.

Two with the 18-105 G, both at f/4. First at 40mm, second at 105mm

"I just love the quality of SEL50F18 (50mm/1.8 E-mount lens). This was originally a full body shot with some empty space on top of Aura. What you see is a pretty extreme 3,2 Mpix crop from the center. Still pretty good quality. [...]"
