Just tried to open my Lightroom 1.2 , but it gave me an error. Doesn't specify any error, but it won't open. So, I tried the DPP , it opened, but when I double clicked the pictures, it will give me the same error. Tried reinstalling, but it won't help. Do you guys have any idea what might be the problem Thanks in advance guys!!

So, er... You're blaming the apps for a corrupt image?

It sounds like a corrupt image - not an app fault! Have you tried recovering the original image?

So are you saying that one of the image is corrupt, so the Lightroom won't start? How do I know which image is corrupt?

Why won't people say up front if they have a PC or a Mac if they want help?

And why don't people say what error? "It gave me an error". Which one?
Why not try the newest version of Lightroom first, anyway? 1.4.1 is current, and it doesn't cost anything to update.

Ok let's get you a good fast simple image viewer. Then you can check your images and at least have fun viewing them. Get IRFanView. It's a popular free image viewer.
IRFanView Site
Just don't let it load the google tool bar etc. You can also get its plugins for raw etc.

On your problems with lightroom and DPP, that's another question. We would need more info on your system, other software installed, what your firewall is and what AV you use. Also some information on your level of expertise with computer systems and photography.

Make sure your system is fully up to date patch-wise with updated FW and AV. Then get back with this info.

I think you're taking it a _bit_ too far, for the problem at hand

Then again, we still don't have any statement about the error, maybe His Lightroom is trying to check for an update and can't because of the firewall

Thanks for trying to help guys. Sorry for the incomplete infor about my problem and system. I don't really don't know much about computer. I don't know what my firewall is. I guess it is the one that provided by windows xp? When I run the Lightroom, it tells me that "program must shut down because of the error". "AppName: Lightroom.exe AppVer: 1.2.0.0 ModName: ui.dll Modver: 0.0.0.0 offset 000637d4. Sorry this is the only info I can find out because of limited skill of computer. But thanks again for the help.
The lightroom was running fine yesterday, but it suddenly is giving me trouble from this afternoon.

Ok, based on your description I'd go to Adobe's web site and download the new 1.4.1 version, install that, and try again.

If the problem happens on DPP as well then its a systemic problem, i.e. OS related.

If there is nothing vital in there I would delete the Lightroom folder in My Pictures and try again, it will merely create a new one and might flush the bad image away. Then start off importing some RAW files you know to be ok.

Personally if it *was* working then I wouldn't do the upgrade until the problem is fixed.

Hang on a sec everyone, check the OP's post again.
He is not having trouble with 1 image he is having trouble with all images.
He is not having trouble with just LR, he is having trouble with DPP too.

OP. Can you open other images in LR or DPP, other thanjust RAWs?

This is not an Application problem. He needs a computer tech or a call to MS with the error codes.

Do you have any other troubles with other apps, or just these two?

Maybe a dll is corrupted. Have you sent the error report, very occasionally you get a reply that solves the issue.

What about PS or another graphics app like ACDSEE etc. Try a demo version and see if that will run.
