Not much to them really. You simply snag one of these:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/763737-REG/Canon_4773B001_52mm_Drop_in_Gelatin_Filter.html

...and then buy a thin-profille 52mm ND of your choice in the strength you want.

You can sandwich ND Gel in the holder that comes with the lens.

There is also a drop-in polarizer which has a knurled wheel protruding just above the drop-in unit so you can rotate it.

The 52mm NDs are really inexpensive too. You can buy a full set for the price of one nice 77mm filter. The Pola is a little more expensive though because it's designed specifically for the task.

I really wish someone would make a variable ND that works like the 52mm drop in pola. I love using my 77mm variable NDs on the shorter glass and hate having to swap 52mm filters on the longer glass if it needs to be done quickly.

I'm new here so I hope I'm doing this right. Here is a video I made of the practice show on Friday at the Alliance airshow. Please let me know what you think.

Sooooooo....from the 1300 shots taken at Alliance air show,i saved 10-15 that i liked.
Those planes were a little too fast for my skills........Im used to the Gimbal and tripod and I didn't use it this time.
Got those two with a Canon 7D 500mm F4 vs1 plus the 1.4x ext vs1 700mm f5.6 ISO100 1/1250 Cloudy WB
Neither are coped and neither have much LR editing.
I was fun and i hope to do it soon again.

I ordered a couple more D810's today. Anyone who would like a mint D800 can have mine for $1400.00 and I'll pick up the shipping. Body only, in original packaging, no battery pack grip, but charger and one battery. Let me know asap, there are a couple of people outside the family that have shown an interest.

Sitting in front of one of my client's beautiful homes, sidewalks soaked down, just awaiting a beautiful Texas dawn.

The 100-400 should have you covered for the flying. For the static aircraft, widest you have if you want to get the whole aircraft in.
