The terrific late afternoon and early evening light we get in Arizona during the fall/winter months makes nearly everything look better - even an Airbus

Big doings at KTKI this weekend, "The Sons of the Flag" is putting on an event here and we have warbirds, food, country bands, tanks, helicopters all over the place. Great organization to help burned Vets, largely Navy Seals. Just left Scott Slocum who was intently sticking GoPro's all over a C47. Fun day fro a great cause. Wish you all were here!

Big week coming up for our little enterprise, coming after a big week that was. JR heads for Spain tomorrow to seal a deal. I was invited, but can't go because I have three assignments with tight deadlines that will consume most of the week. Next time, on our own plane……...

Had no intention of doing anything but some gear reorganizing and chillin' today. I ended up getting to know the founders of "The Son's of the Flag Foundation" Didn't take too long to realize that I was surrounded by greatness. There were so many Seals, Delta Force, and Spec Ops Veterans around the event today that I could have spent the next week listening to the stories of their valor.

The "Sons of the Flag" group has Vets who have suffered burns as their focus. They have built relationships with some of the most gifted surgeons and specialists in the world, in order to be able to facilitate the very highest level of care for these heroes who have suffered unthinkable trauma. I met "Birdman" today, called that by his closest friends because that's what he looked like flying 30' in the air when his Humvee was ripped apart by an IED. I spent time with a gentleman who wears the face of a cadaver, the first such operation to be successfully completed in medical history. Still very disfigured, totally blind, he tandem jumped with an Army Golden Knight today from 8,500', his wife left the C47 seconds after and the four of them danced through the sky in a tribute to the men and women who have paid dearly for the free air we breath.

Wasn't long before JR and I were swept up in the spirit of "The Son's" mission, and brainstorming ways we could help them more effectively get their message out. We were both deeply touched by the speed at which we seemed to be assimilated into this Band of Brothers, I have a hunch this was just the beginning. Perspective, it's a sobering thing.

Tonight, not unlike every night, but with refreshed perspective, I'd like to thank everyone of you who have served the cause of freedom around the world, for whatever country. Like the debt for Salvation, the debt we owe you cannot be repaid, but know that it will not be forgotten, at least not in this home.

My deepest gratitude and respect this Veteran's Day and every other day.
